Position Overview
1st Choice Hurricane Protection is seeking a CAD Designer to support engineering and design work for hurricane shutters, screens, and outdoor living structures including pergolas, awnings, and trellis systems.
This role translates field measurements and project requirements into accurate drawings, renderings, and permit-ready plans while coordinating with sales, project managers, installers, and outside engineering resources as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Create project renderings.
- Create shop drawings and permit-ready plans.
- Translate field measurements into accurate CAD drawings.
- Assist with custom outdoor structure designs.
- Coordinate with sales, project managers, and installers throughout the design process.
- Order and follow up on special engineering when required.
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while working within project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CAD Designer or Architectural Drafter in outdoor, structural, or related design work.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, MicroStation, SolidWorks, or other relevant CAD software.
- Familiarity with SketchUp, Bluebeam, Rhino 3D, Grasshopper 3D, and 3ds Max for modeling and visualization.
- Knowledge of construction processes, schematic development, mechanical design principles, and system integration.
- Ability to accurately interpret architectural schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Clear communication skills for collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hurricane-resistant or outdoor architectural projects.
- Knowledge of Florida Building Code requirements and product approvals.
